060 Community Speed Watch

Pat Greaves of Radcliffe on Trent community speed watch gave a talk on how to set up a speed watch group in Cotgrave.

6 people would be required to start up a group. All volunteers have to be trained and are required to recognise makes and models of cars and vans. Volunteers would have to be CRB checked and may need data protection checks if required to go into the police station to help with the administration.

The equipment needed to start a group is a speed gun, high visible coats and documents distributed by the police.

The speed gun costs around £900 and has a range of 600 metres.

The Nottinghamshire County Council have to do a risk assessment and this has to be agreed with the local police on all places where the group can set up the speed gun.

Pat Greaves has offered to train any volunteers if Cotgrave sets up a Community Speed Group.

PC Reason has agreed to this training and is happy to try to help.

Cotgrave Police do have access to a speed gun, it is shared through several villages in the Vale.

Thanks were given to Pat Greaves for his talk and information.

There being no further business, the meeting ended at 8.22 pm.
