Children's Centres

Cotgrave Children’s Centre

Established in 2006, we provide support to all families with young children in Cotgrave. Anyone from the community who is pregnant or caring for a child under 5 years can access our services and there will be lots of chances for parents and children to have fun, find new things to do and get advice.

 Who runs Cotgrave Children’s Centre?

The quick answer is Nottinghamshire County Council, but the full answer is a little more complicated……

Our activities are run from various community venues, rather than one specially tailored building.  We work closely with other partner organisations such as the Health Centre, Schools, Playgroups and After Schools Clubs, Library, Job Centre Plus, Rushcliffe Community and Voluntary services and other voluntary groups.

 The Children’s Centre activities are monitored by the Local Advisory Group made up of local workers and parents, who oversee the agreed delivery plan based on the needs of local children, parents and carers in the area.  There are 4 work groups that advise the Local Advisory Group;

  • Parents’ Forum;
  • Being Healthy & Staying Safe;
  • Enjoying & Achieving;
  • Making a Positive Contribution & Achieving Economic Well Being.

These groups reflect Government’s ‘Every Child Matters’ outcomes for children.

 So the real answer to who runs Rushcliffe District Children’s Centre is……

We all do!

What can we offer you?

For information about our activities, please ring our Bingham office on 01949 863840.  Alternatively you can pop into the library in Cotgrave to see one of our staff on Monday and Friday afternoons (2-4 pm) and Thursday (3-4pm) for information and advice.   There is an up to date information file held at the library for families who cannot attend on these days.

 Our regular activities include:

 Bumps and New babies- Mondays 10-11.30am at Church of England School. A group for parents and their young babies (until the babies are mobile). Karen Marshall (Community Nursery Nurse) will attend 1st Monday of each month and at all other sessions there will be play opportunities for your baby. This is a baby-focussed group with discussions about sleep/ weaning etc and a chance to make new friends.

Up and Running – Tuesdays 9.15-11.15am at Cotgrave Kids Club (term-time) or Little Kites Playgroup (school holidays only). A stay and play session for children under 5 and their parents/carers. A chance to make new friends in a safe environment.

Weigh Session – Wednesdays 9.30-11.30am @ Cotgrave Health Centre. A member of the Sure Start will be available from 10-11.  This is a chance to have your baby weighed and discuss their development.

Home-based Child Carers Meeting – Thursdays 9-11am. Come along if you care for someone else’s children at home or you are planning to do so. (This includes Nanas, Mommas, Grandmas, Grannies, Grandads, Aunties and Uncles!). Parents thinking about using a childminder are very welcome to this informal, friendly group.

Toddler Tumble Time - Thursdays 9.15 - 10.45 am.  Term time only at Church of England School in Cotgrave.  For children up to the term after their third birthday.

Young Parents Group - from week beginning 17th January, now meeting Mondays 1-3 pm, operating the 1st and 3rd week of each month from Serendipity's Day Nursery in the Futures building.

Sunshine Toddler Group at Methodist Church – Fridays 1.15-2.45pm, run by local parents term time only.  Please note this session is held at the Methodist Church on Bingham Road, next door to the paper shop.
