What's happening
Nottinghamshire
County Council
Nottinghamshire County Council is
launching an eye-catching publicity campaign to encourage local
people to get in touch - as it's brand new 'golden number' goes
live.
The new number -
08449 80 80 80
- was launched to the public on Monday 30th June. People who
phone the number will speak to one of the County Council's trained
customer services centre advisors and can get advice and information
about over 300 County Council services.
Calls will go through to the County
Council's customer services centre, which is based at Sherwood
Business Park in Ashfield. The staff aim to answer 80% of
queries at this first point of contact. If they need to find
our more information, they won't just pass them on to someone else,
but will investigate the enquiry themselves and get back in touch
with the customer.
The customer service centre is open
from 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and from 8 am to 12 noon on
Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Calls to 08449 80 80 80
cost 3p per minute from a BT landline regardless of the location and
the time of day the call is made. Call charges from other
operators and mobile phone may vary.

Volunteers Needed
in your area of Rushcliffe
The Side by Side Befriending Scheme
needs YOU!
We need many more volunteers to
befriend people living in Rushcliffe who have the early stages of
dementia.
No Experience required!
Volunteers usually spend about 2
hours per week with their designated client, engaging in a variety
of socially and mentally stimulating activities. This may be
going out to local places of interest, shopping, having tea and
cakes, or it might be in the client's home playing games, looking at
old photos and reminiscing, or just having a chat. Many
clients with dementia are socially isolated, or need someone to give
them the confidence to go out. Induction and training are
given and volunteers are fully supported throughout their placements
by the staff of the befriending scheme. Travel and other
expenses are also paid.

Community
Outreach Advisor Service
Helping
older people to access the support and services available to them
.....
About the Service
This new service is aimed at people who are 50 and over who live in
Rushcliffe district. Through this service we want to contact
people who are harder to reach, who may be isolated, live in rural
area or who may be disadvantaged or excluded in some way. The
ideas of the project is to help older people access the information,
support and services that would help them stay safe, happy and
independent in their own homes
How to access the
service
The dedicated Community Outreach Advisor based in Rushcliffe is
Jessica Molineaux and is keen to hear from older people or their
families who can phone her at Rushcliffe Community and Voluntary
Service on 0115 981 6988. An appointment will be made to visit
them at home, where Jessica will spend time discussing how the
client is getting on at home, and what support or information might
make things easier for them. Information will be provided,
referrals may be made, with their consent, and arrangements will be
made for a follow-up visit. The second visit will aim to check
that the information or support provided has been successful, any
that any agencies referred to have been in touch.
Getting the message out
there
Jessica is also keen to spread the word about the service.
She would be happy to come go give a short talk to any community
groups within the borough, particularly those attended by the older
community. She would also like to distribute the
Community Outreach Advisor leaflet as widely as possible, and would
be pleased to hear from anyone who can help with this by displaying
or distributing the leaflets and posters around the community.

domestic Violence?
Bullying and mocking you,

Parenting
and Preventative Team of Nottinghamshire Youth Offending Service -
Rachel Tunaley
I work for the Parenting
and Preventative Team of Nottinghamshire Youth Offending Services.
We aim to offer support and interventions to young people aged 8 (or
even younger depending on circumstances) to 13 years old who are at
risk of becoming involved in offending/anti social behaviour and
their parents. This includes working on a one to one basis
with the young person as well as providing parenting support.
We work across the county and are always looking for new referrals
both from other professionals and from families themselves.
The idea behind the work we do is that if young people who are
getting into trouble accept support early on, then we can have a
positive impact and prevent them from going on to offend. If you
would like more information about the Youth Inclusion and Support
Programme (YISP) we run in Rushcliffe them please email me at
rachel.tunaley@nottscc.gov.uk
or phone 07709 406600. Thank You.

Number Plate Thefts
A while ago a message was

a large number of vehicles. He is pleased to say that after talking
to the Town Council, Nottinghamshire Police have match funded money
put forward by the Council, and have obtained 4,000 security screws.
These screws will be shared between Cotgrave Town Council and the
Police Contact Point with the intention of distributing them to any
member of the public who wishes to secure their vehicle number
plates. If you have information regarding a crime or criminal
